Presentation of "Les Grands Concours"
The OIV confirms its trust in Strasbourg Événements
and renews its
prestigious patronage regarding the Grands Concours du monde!
The “Grands Concours du monde”, which contributes to fostering the promotion of grape varieties throughout the world, is a real guarantee of excellence for wine producers and can incontestably be considered as a quality label by the consumers.
Each year, thanks to the professionalism of famous worldwide tasters (such as oenologists, wine growers, sommeliers, cellar directors, professional tasters, specialised journalists ...) that credibility gets stronger.
The renewal of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine patronage also confirms the high quality and competences required within the whole competition process. This is a guarantee of a rigorous control in the application of strict competition rules.
The OIV Patronage offers a worldwide recognition to the winners.
Moreover and for the second time, the Grands Concours du monde can rely on the official sponsorings of :
- the UDSF (Union de la Sommellerie Française)
- the UOEF (Union des OEnologues de France).
What’s new, this year ?
The entry is now open to the sparkling wines within the mono grape varieties Riesling Pinot
Gris and Gewurztraminer.
Portrait of a grape variety
Pinot Gris, originally from Burgundy and cultivated primarily in Alsace, is a member of the family of
very powerful and expressive wines, which makes it one of the most valued grape varieties
internationally. It enjoys considerable success in America, Australia and South Africa while continuing
to maintain its market share in Europe.
In France, the Pinot Gris grape variety is still enjoying considerable development, thanks in particular
to its production in Alsace, which represents 13% of total Alsatian planting.
