Presentation of "Les Grands Concours"
The ambition of Les Grands Concours du monde is to foster the promotion of grape varieties throughout the world, to give producers the opportunity to present their best wines and to offer consumers the unassailable credibility of concrete results with the guarantee of the competence of professional international tasters (oenologists, wine waiters, celebrities from the wine world, cellar men, wine merchants, specialist journalists, etc.)
Following the procedures in 2010 to call on the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine), the 3 international wine competitions have been controlled and the OIV has decided to give its prestigious patronage to Strasbourg Evénements!
Portrait of a grape variety
Riesling, originally from the Rhine valley and Moselle, is a grape variety employed to create a broad range of wines. Its cultivation is thought to have originated in Roman times. Recognised as one of the best white grape varieties in the world, Riesling is a dry wine of some pedigree with overtones of delicate fruit.
Cultivated primarily in Germany, it is known in various countries around the world and represents 23% of the Alsatian vineyard.
